Ghorka agitation disrupts supply of Darjeeling tea

Ongoing agitation by gorkhas' living in West bengal state of India has disrupted suply of the famed  Darjeeling tea.Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) is protesting for a new state.Darjeeling tea, which has enthralled Europeans with its exquisite aroma for centuries, may not be available in abundance in the western markets in September, the time when they eagerly wait for the brew. The shipments have been delayed by three weeks due to the agitation  in the hills and second flush teas that have a unique 'muscatel' flavour can only reach foreign buyers in late November or early December. The Darjeeling tea industry fears that teas of Nepalese origin may grab these markets, thus affecting the original tea exports, going ahead.
